Severely beaten with metal baseball bat
A man who was outside of a popular Chicago gay bar suffered massive head trauma after being beaten with a metal baseball bat.
According to a report in CWB Chicago, the attack happened last Tuesday around 3:45 am in front of Hydrate Night Club, located on Halsted Street in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood. Not much is known about the victim except that he is from a Chicago suburb
Hemorrhaging blood badly, he was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Hospital and treated for blunt force trauma, a depressed skull fracture, brain hemorrhage, and a lacerated forehead.
Per CWB:
“23-year-old Cory J. Fulton-Miles of Calumet City is charged with three counts of aggravated battery and two counts of reckless conduct in the case. Bail is set at $200,000.
Officers on patrol say they saw Fulton-Miles standing with a 28-inch metal baseball bat outside of Hydrate Nightclub at 3458 North Halsted around 3:45 a.m. last Tuesday.
Police intervened after seeing Fulton-Miles strike a 28-year-old man in the head several times, causing the victim to fall to the ground, according to prosecutors.
Fulton-Miles dumped the bat as he ran west on Cornelia with cops on his heels. He was caught and arrested moments later in the 3500 block of North Reta, police said.”
The attack only stopped because of a quick thinking bystander who sprayed Fulton-Miles in the face. The name of the person was not made public.
Fulton-Miles has a documented criminal past, being previously convicted of robbery, according to state records.
Hydrate Nightclub is a popular dance club that holds private events. It's located in the heart of the Chicago Boystown area.
It is unknown why the attack happened at this point in time and what relationship, if any, Fulton-Miles may have had with the victim.
GPB will follow developments and report any updates.
