Tips To A Great Super Bowl
Super Bowl 2021 is just around the corner. In fact, it’s only a day away. For football fans, this day is sort of a holy day. A day when the world, or at least the American world, turns its head to football. All eyes are on American football and the two teams battling it out for the title. But on top of that, the Super Bowl is a big party.
Hundreds of people gather to tailgate, host viewing parties in their homes, watch together in bars, and more. Plus, the half time show is often celebrated for memorable performances from artists like Michael Jackson, Beyoncé, and more. And because so many people are watching the annual program, companies pay big money to air iconic commercials.
But how can you prepare for the Super Bowl this weekend? Here are some tips to help.
1. Be COVID-Conscious
First and foremost, you HAVE to be conscious of the coronavirus pandemic this year. Let’s face it, this pandemic has lasted much longer than any of us expected. And, unfortunately, it seems like the pandemic will be going on for several more months to maybe even another year or two. That’s a bummer and that’s terrible, but that’s the reality of the situation.
With that in mind, you HAVE to be careful when celebrating the Super Bowl. Whether you got tickets for the event, are hosting a SMALL gathering, or are just hanging out with your close bubble, make sure to stick to COVID restrictions. Stay 6 feet apart from others, wear a mask, and wash your hands regularly. In fact, we would even suggest forgoing the party entirely. If we all stick to these regulations, we can help shorten this COVID hell we’ve all found ourselves in.

2. Pre-Order Wings
Ok. Now with that depressing note out of the way, let’s move on to other advice. Shall we?
First, you need to get your wing game situated. If you want to have wings this weekend and haven’t pre-ordered them from a restaurant already…. Well, it might be too late. You see, the Super Bowl is the busiest time for restaurants that sell wings. That’s because everyone and their mom is ordering them. Many places sell out a week or two in advance. But who knows, you might get lucky. Call around and see.
3. Make Wings
If that doesn’t work for you, you can still make the wings yourself. And hey, that might make it more special in the long run. You putting so much effort into food will help you to savor it.
To make wings, you only have to buy chicken wings from a butcher or the grocery store. Again, this might be tough considering the time. But if you do get a hold of uncooked chicken wings, you can either bake them, grill them, or fry them. That choice is yours. For the rest of this tip, we're going to (briefly) explain how to fry chicken.
Frying chicken isn’t hard. All you need to do is buy a good amount of peanut oil (which is best for frying). Then, fill a cast iron pan or wok up to 3/4ths of the top. From there, keep the pan on medium heat. While that's heating up, coat your chicken in a mixture of milk, one egg, salt, and pepper. Then, coat the chicken in a mixture of flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and other seasonings of your choice like paprika, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, and/or oregano.
Within a few minutes of heating the pan, place a chopstick or wooden spoon into the oil. If the oil lightly bubbles around the wooden stick, you’re good to go. If it's bubbling a lot, the oil is too hot. Place few pieces of chicken into the oil when it's ready and flip it when the bottom side is golden brown (about 8-10 mins). Then take the chicken out after another 5-8 mins of cooking on the other side. Cool and dry the chicken on a wire rack and… you’re done! Of course, add

4. Prep Other Foods
But you won’t want to eat just chicken wings during the Super Bowl. Give yourself some variety. Prep other foods for the Super Bowl like cheeseburgers or chips and dip. Making sure that there is a variety of food options is what makes a great Super Bowl party (or small hangout in this year’s case) fun.
5. Research Teams
But what about the actual game? What can you do to prepare yourself for the actual game? Well, you can research and learn about the two teams playing. If you aren’t a fan of one of the two teams playing, chances are you won’t have many personal stakes in the game. But you can then look up info about them like what are the stats and reputations of players? How did each team favor in their other games? You can even lookup smaller things like, what is the fandom around each team like? Who are some celebrity fans? Knowing a little more information about the game can help you appreciate the game more.

6. Watch Miley Cyrus and The Weeknd Music Videos
But what about the music added to the game this year? Well, Miley Cyrus will do a pregame performance and The Weeknd is the halftime show performer this year. If you want to prep yourself for these two performances, you can listen to music by these artists. Or, you can watch music videos behind the performers.
For instance, Miley Cyrus has been embracing a rocker aesthetic in the past year. Her sound is very different than her Disney or Bangerz days. Then for the Weeknd, the musician had a great album, After Hours, release last year. Many even claimed he had been robbed when the Grammy’s ignored him in this past awards season. Learn about those two angles to the performers and more. Maybe even create a pre-game playlist.
7. Be Mindful Of The Kids
Lastly, will there be any kids involved with festivities? Whether they are your kids or someone else’s, you have to be mindful that they will surely run amok without some attention. Make sure they feel engaged. The means in which you do that doesn’t matter. Whether you do that by getting them interested in the game or getting them to engage in play with each other, for instance. Just make sure that your Super Bowl watching experience is both unhindered by the kids and also doesn’t oppress their crazy, energetic lives either. Be mindful. That’s it.
