Luke Perry’s Daughter Buried Him In A Mushroom Suit

Luke Perry's Daughter Honors Her Father

This is a sad one, folks.

Back in March, we shared with you that Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale star Luke Perry had passed away. Now, we shared with you news of his burial.

Perry’s daughter Sophie shared through Instagram that she found the perfect way to let her father rest eternally. She placed his remains in a biodegradable suit for the March 11 burial.

Sophie Perry then shared on Instagram that this was her father’s “final wishes.”

“In December I went to San Francisco with two of my best friends,” she explained. “One of them, had never never been to California, so we went to show him the Redwoods. I took this picture while we were there, because i thought, ‘damn, those mushrooms are beautiful.' Now, mushrooms hold an entirely new meaning for me. Any explanation I give will not do justice to the genius that is the mushroom burial suit, but it is essentially an eco friendly burial option via mushrooms. My dad discovered it, and was more excited by this than I have ever seen him. He was buried in this suit, one of his final wishes. They are truly a beautiful thing for this beautiful planet, and I want to share it with all of you.”

All i can say is that you should all look into them at coeio.com or just by googling “mushroom burial suit” . My dad discovered it, and was more excited by this than I have ever seen him. The Suit And Life Post-Luke's Death

Biodegradable burial suits like the one used by the Perry family are a great alternative for the dearly departed. Now, instead of cremation or caskets, families can offer a green-friendly option for their loved ones’ remains.

Sophie Perry specifically used the suit created by the company Coeio, according to Men’s Health. The “green burial company” has created the suits in order to “return your body to the earth without harming the environment.” The $1,500 suit includes “built-in mushrooms and other microorganisms” to speed up the decomposition process.

“The end result of being buried in the Infinity Burial Suit, or any of Coeio's products, is that bodies are transformed into vital nutrients that enrich the earth and foster new life,” explains Coeio's website.

As for his resting site, Sophie didn’t share the details. Some believe it’s at his farm in Vanleer, Tennessee. The location was zoned for agriculture but could hold a family cemetery.

The news of Luke’s death was a shock to all of us, but especially to Sophie. She was in Africa at the time and rushed to get back to him upon hearing the news. After the burial, she left for Malawi where she was working as a development instructor to build preschools. She then opened a school in her father’s name.

As for the CW’s Riverdale, the first episode filmed after Perry’s passing aired this week. In order to explain his character’s absence, the writers stated that he is “out of town.” The show’s writers are currently deciding how to best send off the character and actor.
