Airport Worker's Pay Was Docked

A 25-year-old technician had his pay docked 10% because a video of him on the job went viral.

According to Asia One, a video of a young man from Xiamen, China went viral. The man, who’s name hasn’t been released, was walking on the tarmac when an airplane passenger recorded him.

Many say the man looks like South Korean actor Song Joong Ki in the popular 2016 drama “Descendants of the Sun.”

Unfortunately, all the fame had a negative impact on the man.

After his employers caught win of the video, they decided to dock 10 percent of his pay for breaking the company code of conduct. The reason being, he wasn’t wearing his uniform right.

The man was caught having his shirt untucked and his hand was in his pocket.

Khaleej Times reached out to the company and they explained, “Taking into consideration the influential impact this video has made, the aggravated penalty must be applied.”

Once news of this reached the internet, many people criticized the company for its unnecessary treatment of their employee. Many argued that having his shirt untucked isn't a big deal.

As for the man at the center of the storm, he later posted on Weibo (essentially, China’s Twitter) to calm down the people raising pitchforks for him. Using the account that now has over 50,000 followers, the man said:

“Honestly, I still feel quite happy because it is not easy to become so famous that quickly.”

“My company did nothing wrong, it was my fault for not keeping with the correct standards in terms of dress code and behavior. Please don't bombard the passenger who uploaded the video online. I never blamed her, because she didn't mean to cause me any harm.”
