Justin Bieber Hugged & Supported A Gay Fan
People are celebrating Justin Bieber after a video of him comforting a gay fan hit the internet.
Fans of the 24-year-old swarmed him as he walked outside his church, the Hillsong in New York City.
The two minute video, found below, shows the Canadian-born singer talking to his fans and being confronted by a Queer woman.
The woman asks him, “Isn’t your church, like, really inclusive of the gay community?” and he replies by saying anyone is welcome.
More specifically, the young woman tells the singer that she recently came out as queer and that she’s struggling to find an accepting church. Having gone through the homophobia found in the Catholic Church, she wants a place that’s more inclusive.
“I’m trying to find a place that is like, inclusive of everybody, ’cause I came out as queer not long ago. So, I’m trying to find a nice place. ‘Cause, like no one is nice. Everybody is so homophobic,” she said.
Bieber then replies by saying, “That’s the sad thing. It can be like that sometimes. Yeah, that breaks my heart for you. I’m so sorry. That’s not okay. If you ever want to come to any of the services, we’d love to have you in there. You’re more than welcome to come any time.”

That said, not everyone agrees with that statement.
While many on social media are applauding Bieber and his church for being so kind to the woman in the video, one singer says he’s not impressed or convinced.
Trey Pearson, who used to sing for Christian band Everyday Sunday, tweeted out:
“This seems lovely, but it’s a shame Hillsong [the church Bieber was leaving] is really NOT an affirming church. You’re ’welcome’, but think something is wrong with you and that you need to change. They wouldn’t marry same-sex couples or let you on leadership or staff. But we’d love to see that change!”

In addition, Hillsong’s founder, Brian Houston, wrote a blog post in 2015 titled “Do I Love Gay People?” that states that he does in fact love gay people, but he doesn’t support gay marriage or the “gay lifestyle.”
