“News” of Zac Efron trying to score coke doesn't really seem like news
Zac Efron’s new movie, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates officially hit theaters Friday. As is customary with most film releases, there’s usually a bit of buzz about the actors.
In this case – the gossip seems to be all about Zac Efron secretly trying to score some cocaine back in 2014, according to the National Enquirer’s July 18 edition.
“The infamous ‘Zac Attack’ was a cocaine cover-up!” screamed the tabloid magazine on page 3 – replete with a bad boy photo of Zac Efron smoking.
The rag tabloid goes on to say:
“When hunky Neighbors star Zac Efron got punched in the mouth on L.A.’s Skid Row two years ago, he was looking to score drugs – and riding in Charlie Sheen’s car with Charlie’s dealer!”
As part of their reporting, The National Enquirer notes that Efron was in rehab twice in 2013 for cocaine abuse.

The also state that he “spun a yarn” about what really went down.
According to the Enquirer’s unnamed snitch:
“Zac’s whole story at the time was a bunch of bull. He concocted it to cover up the truth – that he was out to buy drugs and got beaten up in the seedy area he was in.”
MVP reported on the mysterious incident back in March of 2014 when it happened.
According to the Enquirer’s source, Zac met Charlie Sheen and his drug dealer at Charlie’s home. From there, the two exchanged numbers and Zac ended up calling him a few months later.
“The dealer said they were in the area picking up Chinese food when they ran out of gas,” chirps the source. “But the truth is, they were there looking for drugs, and what they found instead was trouble.”
What’s interesting here is that the Enquirer claims they contacted the LAPD for a police report but when they asked for the official police cam – they were apparently denied.
“The Enquirer contacted LAPD for a police report, but the in what looks like a cover up, authorities refused to turn over the dashboard video of the incident!” says the tabloid.
Remember, back in 2013 the National Enquirer also reported that Efron had overdosed on heroin – something several other blogs mentioned as well, including Perez Hilton.
What we want to know is: Why is all of this coming up now? Is it just part of an attempt to generate “Zac” buzz as part of the movie release? Yes,
Zac Efron has been fairly open about his substance abuse struggles, which he has been very open about. And it’s not like people haven’t been interested (see TMZ report)
But what is important is here and now.
Check out what he said in a May 18, 2016 interview with Elle:
“How Has Being Sober Changed Your Life?
What I found is structure. That led me to a balance of opposites: You get out of life what you put in. There was a moment when my morning routine was, like, Get up and Google yourself.
But that stopped, dramatically and instantly, probably three years ago. I realized that viewing yourself through other people's pictures is not living your own life. I wasn't really being myself.
A lot of my hobbies had gone out the window. I couldn't skateboard or surf for fear of being followed. Crossing the line of fear is what leads to greatness.”
We love Zac Efron on this blog. Goodness knows we’ve covered him enough.
That’s why we just don’t get why this particular “news” item from the Enquirer is popping up again?
Oh – yes, we already know – it’s “The Enquirer” – what did you expect? But then again, they did get the whole Barry Manilow got married to another man thing right. Remember?
In any event – here is a cute video of Zac doing some selfies from the premier of We are your friends, courtesy of Pop Candies TV. Don't you think this is much more interesting?
