A Social Distance Summer
It’s summertime! The birds are chirping, the sun is hot, and we can finally go outside again! BUT, we still have to be mindful of our health. While many countries and U.S. states are loosening lockdown restrictions, the coronavirus is still going STRONG. In fact, in some parts of the world (*cough* America *cough*) the pandemic is getting worse.
Because of that, it might not be the best idea to go to barbeque cookouts, hang out at the beach, or do other typical Summer activities.
But how can you enjoy the summer without taking too much risk? Well, here are a few ideas to help you figure that out.
1. Garden
Get outside and work on growing your green thumb. While you’re at it, you might as well grow some plants too. There’s something fun about helping a plant thrive. And this is the perfect season to do it. Plus, you can also work on growing some plants that will give you food back. Like lemon trees, tomatoes plants, and more.
2. Backyard Camping
If that doesn’t work, try camping in your back or front yards. Get a tent set up and enjoy the great outdoors… just not too far from the safety of your house.
3. Field Day
Want to feel the fun of field days that you once knew as a kid? Well, that’s easy! Go on a trip. This doesn’t have to be a long trip out of your immediate region, you could take a field trip to a park that’s in your town. Bring a lunch and enjoy nature away from your home.
4. Picnic
On that note, enjoy a picnic with a few close friends. Each person can make a part of the meal and make a big event of it. Maybe even toss a ball around.
5. Scavenger Hunt
Or if you want to make an event for you and your friends/loved ones to enjoy, try a scavenger hunt. From making up for lost time with the Easter egg hunt to using landmarks in your town/city as places to discover on your event.
This will get people moving and having fun outside.
6. Dance Party
Now, this is the riskiest idea on this list. But, it's worth mentioning. Try to have a dance party outside with some close friends. Make sure everyone’s social distancing while still getting down and having fun.
If you have a spacious place outside to do it like a park or a friend's backyard, go do it!
7. Movie Night
Or you can enjoy an outdoor movie night. Find a flat wall, a large bedsheet, and a friend with a projector. Then, set everything up in your backyard, on your roof, or wherever else you can get this idea to work.
Then get the popcorn set up and enjoy your summer flick. Consider streaming your films for free on Tubi (see our review of Tubi here).
Summer Fun
We HAVE to stay mindful of the coronavirus pandemic, but we can still find creative ways to enjoy the summer. Try one of the ideas we have listed above and have the best 2020 Summer season you can possibly make.
