Gay Teen Accused Of Murder Shares His Perspective
Last month, a New York City teen was arrested for stabbing two of his bullies in school. One of the victims was wounded while the other died on the scene.
18-year-old Abel Cedeno is the name of the gay teen who’s been accused of these crimes, while 15-year-old Matthew McCree is the teen who died and 16-year-old Araine LaBoy was seriously wounded.
Cedeno says that he stabbed the two not only because he went through countless years of bullying and snapped (as earlier reports guessed), but because he was being physically attacked at the moment of the incident.
As Cedeno told Gay City News, McCree was repeatedly beating him up. On top of that, apparently the two had gang affiliations that scared Cedeno into acting in his defense.
“I was trying to get him off me,” he said from Rikers Island. “I was afraid for my life.”

Cedeno admits that he brought his knife into the school for protection, as many of the gang members in the school do (including bringing guns in as well).
According to him, Cedeno had no intention to kill anyone and at first only brought his knife out to defuse the situation.
“No way did I think someone could die,” he said.
Cedeno also mentioned that there were not just one but two teachers in the classroom when McCree walked up to him and began his attack.
“He hit my face twice. The second time I snapped,” he told Gay City News. “All the years of bullying, and I couldn’t control my body and started to defend myself.”
While Cedeno’s defense worries that witnesses will not testify due to the influences of the gang, he still faces second-degree murder charges and will testify before a Bronx grand jury this week.
In addition, the school is under investigation for its inability to stop violence and bullying from happening.
