Aaron Hernandez News
At one time, Aaron Hernandez used to have a large following of fans, straight and gay alike. Let’s be honest – much of this had to do with his handsome good looks.
But once he was indicted and found guilty for the for the 2013 killing Odin Lloyd and sentenced to life in prison, a lot of folks turned on him.
In the background lurked another case. One that didn’t receive much attention but very much relates to the here and now.
Specifically, Hernandez was indicted 2014 for the grisly double murder of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado in 2012. But just a few days ago, he was found not guilty by a jury.
And apparently, this finding may act as a gateway for his attorney to appeal the Lloyd case, which ultimately could lead to his release from prison.
At least that’s what his lawyer seems to think.
Attorney Jose Baez, who represents Hernandez, made the following statements.
“I think so, I think so,” Baez told TMZ when asked in an interview whether he thinks Hernandez will get out of prison. “I think that if we look back at some of the things that are available to appeal on that case, I think there’s a strong likelihood.
And if he hires me for the second trial, we’re going to go all at it. Nothing would make me happier than to prove everybody wrong.”
According to reports, Hernandez is near broke and struggling to come up with money to pay for legal fees. Baez was asked if the former NFL player had the cash to pay for the appeal.
“Very little, very little. But he’s got friends and supporters — people who care about him. Hopefully people will come forward now that they can see.”
Legal experts aren’t feeling Mr. Hernandez’s chances are very good. “I don't see that happening,” said Rosanna Cavallaro, a law professor at Suffolk University who spoke to CNN. “I don't think his fate changes because of this (verdict).”
Update: 4/19/17: According to news reports, Aaron Hernandez has apparently committed suicide.
