Reduce neck wrinkles
When it comes to maintaining a more youthful appearance, most guys focus on their face. This makes sense when you consider the first thing people see is your mug. But what good is it to have a young looking face if your neck looks like a turkey gobbler?
Think about it for a moment. When’s the last time you looked good and hard in the mirror inspected the region underneath your chin? I encourage you to do this now and see what reflects back!

When you gazed in the mirror, did you notice lines and creases? Does your neck look older than your face? If the answer is yes, now is the time to take action.
In this brief article, I’m going to give you 7 tips to prevent wrinkles on the neck that are specific to men. You may be wondering why these suggestions aren’t for everyone? After all, aren’t all necks the same?
The answer to that question is: No.
Here’s the deal. Men generally have much thicker skin than women. Much of this has to do with the fact that guys produce more collagen than our female counterparts.
FYI: Collagen is an important bodily protein that helps to give your skin it’s plump, youthful look. And while men may produce more of it, that doesn’t mean we get off scot-free. That’s because the older we get, our bodies make less of it.
When you combine reduced collagen production with the natural process of aging, plus years of exposure to the sun, it’s no wonder so many men have saggy, wrinkly necks.
It doesn’t have to be this way. You can prevent those lines and creases from developing in the first place. What’s more, you can minimize the creases you already see.
What follows are 7 tips to prevent neck wrinkles for men. Some of what you’ll read may seem obvious. Other suggestions might cause you to pause and think. Read them all to get the maximum benefits.
Let’s jump right in!
1. Diet
The very first thing you should think about when it comes to neck wrinkle prevention is your diet. That’s because your skin’s appearance is a direct reflection of what you eat.
Opt for foods that are high in vitamin C, A and E. Examples include foods like oranges, carrots and organic, dark green vegetables.

If you can’t include these in your diet on a daily basis, reach for a multivitamin designed specifically for men. An excellent choice to consider is Rainbow Light Men’s Multivitamin.
It contains all of the anti-aging nutrients you’ll need and is a natural food based supplement. Check Amazon for pricing.
2. Drink lots of water
Perhaps an obvious tip but one that needs to be mentioned all the same. That’s because most Americans don’t drink nearly enough water, according to the research.
The general consensus is that most people should drink eight, 8-ounce glasses of h20 per day. But when you dig a bit deeper into the science, you’ll find that guys require something like 13 cups.
For our purposes, if you can make it a daily goal of taking in 10 glasses of water per day, you’ll be well on your way to a healthier body and a less wrinkly neck.
3. Reach for retinoids
One of the best ways to treat, reduce and prevent wrinkles on your neck – and face – is to use moisturizing products that contain retinoids.
You may be wondering what retinoids are?
Simply put, a retinoid is a derivative of vitamin A that has been broken down and liquefied into a cream form. You want to use retinoids to chase away neck wrinkles because vitamin A is known to aid in promoting skin elasticity.

Because vitamin A can only be produced in the human body by eating beta-carotene rich foods like carrots, making sure you are getting enough to your skin can be a real challenge. After all, how many of us really eat two or three carrots a day?
As a supplement, dermatologists recommend men use a retinoid based topical. I’ve done the research and personally use Body By Merry Surge Moisturizer. Check Amazon for pricing. It’s organic and loaded with retinoids – plus other anti-aging goodies like hyaluronic acid.
Trust me guys, there’s no need to break the bank. I’ve seen some neck creams that are upwards of $100.00. The Body By Merry product does every bit as much as the more pricey products and then some.
Just put on a little each night before you go to bed. A little bit goes a long way.
4. Sunscreen your neck
One of your skin’s worst enemies is the sun. Ultraviolet rays can permanently rob it of elasticity. Vital nutrients, plus collagen, literally get vaporized when exposed too long.
That’s why it’s critical you apply a high quality sunscreen to your face and neck. I mention this because most of us typically focus on the face and forget about what’s going on under the chin.
The folks at Cerave make a terrific facial moisturizer that is packaged for AM and PM use (see Amazon for price). The AM lotion has SPF count of 30, which is what dermatologists recommend as a minimum sunscreen when outdoors.
The night cream can be used as a general moisturizer. The product isn’t all that expensive and is highly recommended by skin care experts.
5. Don’t neck lean
A surefire way to accelerate the formation of crags and sags on your neck is touching it too much. Here, I am talking about bad habits like cupping your hand along the side of your neck while resting an elbow on a table.
When you do this, you are literally pulling your skin taught for extended periods, which over the course of time causes wrinkles.
Have you ever slept with your head on a pillow, only to wake up and notice a huge crease on your cheek? If so, you get my drift.
As a general rule of thumb, never pull, tug or yank at your skin.
6. Use a firming cream
Along with using a retinoid moisturizer, you’ll want put on a firming cream at least once a week. Firming creams help to lift the outer dermal layer along the neck and help fortify it with collagen and nutrients.

While I admit this one costs more than others on the market, Strivectin's Neck Cream with probiotic technology does a phenomenal job of preventing lines. See Amazon to check price.
Here is why I like this one. It’s loaded with vitamin A, C and E. More importantly, I can visually see how the skin around my neck looks much younger.
Again, I would only use this once a week. Twice if you are looking to treat problem areas.
7. Wrap your neck
My final anti-wrinkle tip for the neck is to cover it up during cold weather. Too many of us just throw on a hat with gloves and think we’re dressed appropriately. The truth is, your neck needs protection too.
Let me explain why.
Super cold air contains no humidity. That’s why your skin cracks and flakes when exposed to below freezing temps. That’s right – the winter air sucks moisture from your dermal layer like a leech, leaving it baron and dry.

The best thing you can do to keep your neck protected is to wrap it up in a scarf. I recommend a long, thick fabric that will completely go around the entire perimeter below your chin.
You can get scarfs almost anywhere. I personally use a cashmere type product (see Amazon) when I bundle up.
Summing Things Up
If you are already doing your best to preserve your face, right on! But it doesn’t do you a lick of good to have a youthful mug if your neck looks old and nasty.
By employing some of the steps I’ve outlined here, you should be able to maintain a wrinkle-free neckline for years to come.
